The Sealed Leaf
A sealed leaf is read only by its addressee. What follows is how we treat what you tell us in the same spirit.
What we keep
- Your reader’s card: email, a password stored as a one-way scramble, the name you give, a date of birth, a gender, and anything you add at your lectern.
- Your conversations, together with the notes each woman takes of you to jog her memory.
- Two cookies: one marks your session, the other that you stepped over the threshold as an adult.
- Records of payments, each a sum and a transfer code. Cards play no part, so we never see one.
- Ordinary server logs, kept briefly for security.
What we use it for
The aim is a running chat, enforced rules and an open library. Messages are handled by a model running on servers we control, or by a supplier on identical terms, and a safety check scans them. Chats are not for sale; advertisers receive none.
Counting readers
A simple counter tells us how many readers arrive and from where. It cannot read what you write.
What you control
Inside a chat’s menu are the controls to edit her notes, produce a transcript or burn the scroll. Removing the entire account needs a letter to the scribe sent from the registered address. Where the law near you offers further rights, name them and they stand.
